In observance of the current pandemic restrictions, Walter's Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Czenstochowa Church, Coventry, and interment at Mount St. Walter was the former husband of the late Alice Violet Freeman. Sister in law, Gayle Twaddle of Portsmouth, RI and several nieces and a nephew. Freeman was a founding member of Volunteers of Warwick Schools (V.O.W.S.), a member of Warwick Council Knights of Columbus, and a communicant of Our Lady of Częstochowa of Coventry.īesides his wife he leaves three children, Mark Freeman of Bethel Park, PA, Allison Herring and husband, Bobby of Quitman, TX, and Bethany Tracy and husband, David of Milford, MA, four grandchildren, David, Michael, Juliana Tracy and Shelby Herring. Freeman retired for health reasons in 1990 from the Hoxie Elementary School after serving as building principal for 3 years. In 1975 he transferred to Cedar Hill School where he served as Principal for 12 years. In 1972 he was appointed principal of Apponaug and Pontiac Schools. Freeman proudly served his country in the Louisiana Army National Guard and retired as First Sargent with 24 years of service. Freeman began his career at Oakland Beach school where he served as a classroom teacher science specialist and assistant principal. Walter Freeman was born on November 14th, 1895, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. A native of Weeks Island and a resident of New Iberia, Walter Reed Freeman, the purest and most gentle soul, passed away peacefully Saturday, at the age of 73. He was the husband of Barbara (Whitaker) Freeman for 32 years.īorn and raised in Providence the son of the late Walter and Emma Glaser Freeman, he graduated from Rhode Island College in 1959 where he later earned a Master’s Degree in educational administration.
